Debbie Smith
Longtime Nelsonian

My previous work was running a successful commercial laundry for 25 years with many staff so I believe I bring a different aspect to recruitment, seeing the clients requirements and expectations as the client would see them.

Seeing the frustrations of dealing with corporate recruitment companies that sent me staff without considering if they were suitable. This has made me passionate about placing the right person to the role not just any person.

I was a NZ Golf Representative for many years and I would like to think I bring that same passion and drive to A-Temp business and its achievements.

Kay Hammond
Nelson born and bred

Kay became a member of A-Temp 18 months ago. Recruitment was not even on the radar when she moved back home to Nelson after a short stint away. It is an exciting industry to be involved with.

There is a lot more to recruitment than I had realised and am enjoying the challenge of find the right candidate for the different positions we have available.

Kay is also a sportsperson and has represented Nelson in Softball, Indoor Cricket and Lawn Bowls.

Reagan Poynter
West Coast

Raised on a diet of coal and rugby Reagan is a true Coaster from Westport.

If he is not playing his guitar you will find him looking for the next fishing or whitebaiting spot!

Reagan has spent the last 15 years in Nelson where he started (and finished) a career as a radio announcer before entering the dazzling heights of recruitment.

Reagan has also built and sold two businesses and helped deliver one of Nelsons attractions “The Fifeshire Rock Light” which is one of the few natural structures lit from over 100m in the World.

Having over 5 years experience in recruitment and being a business owner, Reagans knowledge and passion is a real asset to the A Temp team and our staff.

“With being on the other side and being a client of a recruitment company through my own businesses;  it was clear that there was some complacency in the industry in the region…… A-Temp get it, they really get what it is to be a partner and not just box tickers.”

Julia Knowles

After living overseas for many years, we returned to New Zealand and opened the small Hotel d’Urville.

Deciding on a change, I worked in various administration roles in both a temporary and permanent capacity and then settled into a position at the Marlborough Community College where I managed the Training for Work Course for job seekers. It has been a natural transition to join Atemp here in Blenheim, where I work with employers and assist them in the placement of suitable employees for both temporary and permanent work situations.

Being a local, I have a wealth of knowledge of local industries and requirements. I enjoy matching the right person with the right job.

When not working for Atemp, I enjoy a round of golf or a game a Bridge.
